Minority Reservation – An Evil’s Seed!

I’m grieved because the government’s policies are so biased that they are sure to break the communal harmony into such fragments which can never be agglutinate ever again. I’m visualizing this country as a Wall, where each brick represents a citizen and the cement between bricks is the Love and respect which binds us all as one. For making a strong wall, all bricks need to be strong but individual strength alone isn't the secret of strong wall. The cement which acts as an adhesive is what makes a stack of bricks a wall.

 If I speak directly on this issue, I would be put in the same basket as parties opposing it. However, my concern is genuine and I do not garner any votes or incentives by writing this article. Therefore, please answer these questions yourself….

1. Would the policy improve the student’s intake for prestigious educational institutes?
2.  How many in the Union cabinet or the Lok Sabha have cracked CAT or IIT-JEE?
3. Does getting into such educational institutes guarantee the reserved candidates with a bright future? If yes, then can you force the companies to recruit these weaker candidates?
4. If A is from non minority community and B from minority, if both get equal marks, why only B is given admission and A is denied?  Why does Law favour B, isn’t Law supposed to be equal for everyone?
5. Does being born in a minority family, makes one weak?
6.  By giving a religion based reservation, is the government saying “your religion is what makes you weaker”? If not, why not give them equal chance to prove themselves?
7. Considering that there are were no castes in any other religion other than Hinduism. Also the caste system which prevails only in India and is not seen any Islamic or Christian country. Why does government call some Christians and Muslims to be Dalit? Is it not against the Holy Bible and Holy Quran? 
8. Are all Hindus born -> intelligent and rich? If not, why deprive them of reservation, if not reservation then financial help?
9. Are Muslims in minority in UP and JK? If they aren’t, then why not give reservation to real minority?
10.  Does a caterpillar who is helped out of cocoon(struggles) become a good Butterfly? Isn’t reservation analogous to helping people the wrong way!
11.  Doesn't minority reservation make India a non-secular country as only few religions are given priority?

Reservation is a way of choosing to go against the law of survival of the fittest and by all means it makes future of the country weary. It causes weak bricks to be chosen for making the wall.

More biased laws would lead to polarization. When country’s population is polarised, there is one group which feels oppressed. This oppression when crosses threshold, erupts and there is complete anarchy. Such oppression is not controllable as even all armed forces have to choose one side. We are slowing moving to the same state of partition. It may seem exaggerated and so if we peep in past, the divide and rule policy debilitated the freedom struggle and even after obtaining independence, division took place. Enmity between people will dry the cement of love and thus history is bound to repeat with repeated mistakes!

One final question….

If Reservation was given to communities which made Indian Freedom Struggle a success! Who would get the reservation?

Reservation is a flawed concept. It can be synonymous to favoritism. It’s a different name given to Divide and Rule policy. A mother can’t choose between its children. Her duty is to teach her children to face life and struggles on their own because she won’t be there always.

Present is born from the womb of past. Let us reap the seed of justice, so that this present, presents us with a strong and secure future for our country.

Scratch Card Scare Is Falsely TRUE!!!

ATTENTION! !!!! Medical research Authority of the US have found that new cancer in human beings caused by 'Silver Nitro oxide'. Whenever u buy recharge cards or calling cards don't scratch them with ur nail as it contain 'silver nitro oxide' coating and can cause skin cancer. Copy and paste this status and spread awareness please!

I see so many on social networking sites posting this but I wonder if they try to find out truth. But when there r such people who still believe FB, Microsoft, Telecom companies etc r going to help Cancer patients then you guys who have posted about Scratch card scare are better off.
The research starts with search


1. Google doesn't know Silver Nitro Oxide!
So two things r possible....either there is no such substance which implies this is a scam. Or it must be Silver Nitric Oxide coz thats what Google tells us. Silver Nitric Oxide also produces lame results. Which means the rumour is false.


2. Silver Nitro Oxide is new to my chemist friends :P


3. Scratch card is made of plastic. Most companies use PVC. Polyvinyl chloride is a compound used in pipes, flooring, tiles, wires etc.
So it is not silver nitro oxide but a form of plastic.


However, even though it might not be the chemical that the message stated, it still may not be safe. I searched deeper and found PVC has too many health concerns. Found a website of an environmental organisation "Greenpeace" which is independent (not connected to any govt).

2. Well Done is better than Well Said. See, I don't believe in mere words. Slambook is about filling the best content which comes out of your heart. But the problem is some people have better language skills than others. So even if you give it your best friend, they may not write it as good as others whom you hardly talk to . You may be fooled by words!

I have had friends and very close. They spoke exact same words to me, all the ones I find in slambooks. Friends who keep saying that they will be there always, may not be coz its their "words" you believe and but actions may betray them. So what's the point ?

Dictionary.com defines friend as "a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard". 

The point is we have had a great college life and its better to be attached by feelings and not just words. And seriously,  I think we need no special page or occasion to say good words or make fun of each other....we do it all the time.

India Against Corruption

All my dear Indians.....Congratulations, India has moved from rank 94 in 2009*  to 91 in  2010*. What a proud moment for all of us, We have improved consistently in the field of corruption. Atleast this is what figures say

Malawi, Lesotho, Vanuatu..... Heard of these countries before? Neither have I . Even such non heard countries are doing better than us.

Two consecutive headlines on BBC's news bar -> "India celebrates World cup victory against Sri Lanka", "Indian Telecom minister and his aide to be interrogated by the CBI in the multi-billion dollar scam".

See we are famous for two things :-
1. Cricket
2. Scams

We won the Cricket WC after 28 years, what a struggle. Unfortunately, there is no Scam World Cup, else we would have have been undisputed champions for 28 years.

Enough said about the problem, the solution to it lies in total Transparency.
Noted social activist Anna Hazare alongwith Shri Shri Ravishankar, Baba Ramdev, Kiran Bedi, Syed Rizvi, Archbishop Vincent M Concesso and many others have started a drive "India Against Corruption". They demand implementation of two bills, one "Jan Lokpal" at centre and similar one "Jan Lokpat" at state level.

The bill says - Investigations in any case will have to be completed in one year. Trial should be completed in next one year so that the corrupt politician, officer or judge is sent to jail within two years

The Jan-Lokpal committee will be headed by a person who is not related to any political party neither does he/she has a business. The office term will be for 5 years. This clause is a problem with the govt.

How clever is our PM....he makes a anti-corruption committee(CVC) which is headed by his own person. So no chance of being caught. Jan-Lokpal would ensure the PM and Chidabaram cannot fool Indians by appointing a corrupt person like Thomas as CVC.

Govt of India was to introduce a similar bill("Lokpal") however, they have crafted things only for their ease. Let see how it compares...

Transient Patriotism

30th March, a day when streets were deserted after late afternoon, a dead silence everywhere as if the entire 1.21 billion had been killed and humanity was wiped out. There was no section 144 imposed, no national holiday declared yet it was a unofficial holiday for all.

Schools, Colleges were declared off before time, shops were shut and all for one reason. India - Pak cricket match. Could really be a country be so frenzy for a match? We all witnessed it. And as Pakistan lost their last wicket, fire crackers bursting all over.

Diwali and Holi in one day. A similar occasion when MS Dhoni hit 6 on 2nd April and India clinched World title in style. Roads were blocked all night. People chanting slogans,dancing on road, on cars, on roofs, in houses, in clubs, in police stations. Indian Flag waved everywhere.

Indians realized they were "Indians". We were united for 2 days. Strangely, the question to be asked is.....why dont we celebrate the Independence Day this way? Where is the elation on 15th of August? . The freedom fighters were more vital than cricket team. The Kargil war generals who lost their lives were equally important. Sadly, we don't see such enthusiasm on Vijay Diwas. Why do we forget that we have a team coz some "true" Indians who fought 60 years before and laid their lives are the only reason we can celebrate today!

Why is patriotism such short lived? The politicians who had turned up were happy they were being focused by camera. They could indeed make more difference to the society than Team India. If so many of us who watched the match would vote sincerely, we may just have a better government.

My appeal to all is not to have a ephemeral feeling of Indianess, but carry it throughout your life.

 What better a film title for our UPA Govt. Well, I know there would 7^7^7 Scams but then its a film! and we cannot show a single "frame" from each scam.

This is in no particular order, coz i do not remember how frequently they pop up. If only this money could be utilized, it would save not just India but Entire World from Recession.

1. Commonwealth Games Scam

Estimated 70,000 Crores were spent! And less than half of it was used. This bought us National shame. Economic Times said organizers bought each bundle of Toilet papers for Rs 4000 but thats ok after all each Soap Dispenser was around Rs 3000, I bet they must be branded maybe BMW has launched new variety.


2. Adarsh Society Scam
This highrise buildings were built only for Kargil War veterans and thier families but our Govt found one more oppotunity to loot. The highrise now has 103 members, which include relatives of Ashok Chavan.But hey they didnt get it for free, thats what papers say, they paid 50-60 lakh for each flat of about 6 Crore. Come on not so bad, after all army jawans who protected us don't deserve so expensive flats. Kya karenge itne mehange flats ka. I bet Govt feels Army should be tough even for family members hence they have created the best possible ambience for them


3. IPL Scam
Dear Lalit Modi, who only copy-pasted the entire ICL expect a letter change and more Heavy Weight investors. When he was caught a few other scams were thrown open like Kochi IPL scam and our esteemed Shashi Tharoor had to resign. But not for long, since you are close to Sonia G, you would get something even better.

4. 2G Scam
 From Wikipedia

The 2G spectrum scam involved officials and ministers in the Government of India illegally undercharging mobile telephony companies for frequency allocation licenses, which they would use to create 2G subscriptions for cell phones.

 

Estimated loss of just Rs 176,379 crore (US$38.27 billion). 
In this Everyone was involved from Congress (Obvious since it is a part of every scam) to BJP, Ratan Tata to 
Barkha Dutt.

5. S Band Scam

If 2G scam was nothing then we bring you even bigger scam....now with more money involved. 

Scam estimated to be about 2 lakh crore. Lets just write that figure
2,00,000 X 1,00,00,000 = Rs 20,00,00,00,00,000 ! I dont get marks but im really good in Mathematics :)

6. Swiss Bank Scam
This is not a scam coz govt hasnt "accepted" it as yet. Estimated to be around  $1500 billion. Obama announced a package of  $750 billion to SAVE United States from recession and it more than the GDP of US in 2010 !. I would type more but I'm tired, no matter if we go on writing every single day like this List of scams is ever Increasing.


7. XYZ Scam
Even if another Scam happens, it will be forgotten and PM will again say he has to make "Compromises" to run the Coalition govt. We have not only a weak govt which only appeases minorities for vote bank but a most corrupt in the history of India.

CAT Fails Yet Again

Analysis even before 24 Hrs of the announcement of the CAT 2010 Result.
CAT went online Last year and we saw how well it all went. One in 5 students was not able to take the Test.Tests were cancelled in 6 centers as glitches continued. The contract was given to Prometric which is a U.S. based company. Somehow, they managed to reschedule the exam and save them from further Embarrassment.

This year again, they made a severe Mistake. Today the results were announced but most of my friends and others were not able to open the Website. A simple Examination tells us Why?

This tell us that is was Secure Website! So is it really Required?

 A normal HTTP request is handled as shown above.

Whereas HTTPS requests are secure which means Certificate and Encrypted data is sent over the network.

All the Banking, Transaction websites use this. Even Google uses it to authenticate for their web users.

This is how complex a HTTPS connection can be. So know lets test both.


With Client and Server on the same Local Machine, using a Ubuntu and Apache Benchmark, 10000 requests.

TEST 1

Results for http ("ab -n 10000 http://CAT/index.html")

• Time taken for tests: 2.664 seconds
• Requests per second: 3753.69 (#/sec)
• Time per request: 0.266ms

Results for https ("ab -n 10000 https://CAT/index.html"):

• Time taken for tests: 107.673 seconds
• Requests per second: 92.87 (#/sec)
• Time per request: 10.767ms

TEST 2


Adding keep-alive (ab option -k) to the test improves the situation because now all requests share the same connection.

Results for http with keep-alive ("ab -k -n 10000 http://CAT/index.html")

• Time taken for tests: 1.200 seconds
• Requests per second: 8334.86 (#/sec)
• Time per request: 0.120ms

Results for https with keep-alive ("ab -k -n 10000 https://CAT/index.html"):

• Time taken for tests: 2.711 seconds
• Requests per second: 3688.12 (#/sec)
• Time per request: 0.271ms

 Hence, The first Test revealed HTTPS to be around 50 times slower. Test 2 with shared requests revealed it was nearly 2 times slower.

Imagine if all these Requests were concurrent, the server would be overwhelmed and give up. If you have a high End server on your system, you can test it with the following command .
 "ab -n 10000 -c 1000 http://CAT/index.html"
Also the SSL certificate used was on the same system which otherwise would take more time.

CAT was taken up by around 2 lakh candidates. At Peak time - Atleast 10,000 would request at the same time with an total hourly requests going upto 2,00,000. Massive load on the server with added SSL overhead for no reason.

So when you want to see your result, is it really required to be secure? Do we need to wait for a day more because the websites secure. And what use is that security for when I can see anyones result if i have their Roll No and Email ID!
Prometric still hasn't learned from its mistakes.
